There is also a morning class planned that weekend in Berwick upon Tweed on Saturday 25th January 2014 - email me for details...

Drawing on ideas found in Awareness Through Movement we will work in guided lessons with the emphasis on independent process, always finding our own pace.
The workshops aim to offer an accessible opportunity to take some time and space to explore dynamic stability in movement. No particular training is necessary, just an interest in discovering through your own movement experience - whether your focus is to inform your own work or to find more ease and spontaneity in everyday actions.
Bring a mat and/or blanket for floor work and warmth.

Fiona Wright has a workshop approach that is influenced by many somatic practices and experiential anatomy, especially Awareness Through Movement (Feldenkrais Method) in which she is now an authorised teacher.

Walking with Awareness: A Weekend Escape
with
Simone Kenyon and Fiona Wright

Friday 26th - Monday 29th july 2013
Manorbier, Pembrokeshire

A long weekend of workshop offering space for enjoyment in a sense of movement, through exploration on foot and connection to environment.

Workshop Fee: Full £100 / £75 Low Income / Unwaged £45.
Arriving from Friday afternoon & leaving Monday lunchtime.
Plus Accommodation - low cost camping at Manorbier Youth Hostel - indoor beds also available.
Food will be arranged as shared self-catering (estimated £10 per day).
Email bookings and enquiries as soon as possible.
info@fionawright.org
A short paragraph about why you’d like to come along at this time would also be most welcome.

Simone Kenyon and Fiona Wright are independent artists with shared backgrounds in performance and visual arts. They both have many years of experience between them in facilitating groups and collaborative work and are influenced by many somatic practices such as Awareness Through Movement and they are both currently training as practitioners of the Feldenkrais Method.

The main focus will be on walking within the surrounding area and along the local Pembrokeshire coast. This will be combined with sessions about finding easier movement and increased awareness of how we sense ourselves and our dynamic stability in gravity - whether this is in our everyday movement, performance work or general exercise.

We will meet each day as a group of up to ten people participating together on led walks and scheduled workshop time. Sessions on movement and awareness will take place in the nearby Manorbier community centre which will also be available as an indoor base.
No particular training or level of fitness is necessary, just a real interest in being outdoors and  walking. Each person can find their own way in terms of balancing energy and resting as they most need as the weekend unfolds.
Things to bring will include a mat, blanket, materials for writing/drawing and of course a range of clothes for outdoors and indoors for the variety of weather that might accompany us!

There will also be time for individual space to relax, drift and explore. The coast offers some amazing beaches for swimming and relaxing with Skrinkle Haven and Church Doors beaches just minutes away from the accommodation.

Simone has been a performer, artist and producer for the past fifteen years working within a variety of contexts between dance and performance. Her work explores walking and our relationship to environments, particularly through her interest in Body Weather training. She has spent much time in Manorbier and explored the coastal pathways of Pembrokeshire.

Fiona has been making performances for over twenty years, working through choreography, writing and installation. Her solo work has included a series of close-up performances made for an audience of one at a time She regularly leads research workshops for artists and has long experience teaching in higher education, especially improvisation and experiential anatomy.
