How the sun lights the earth

How the sun lights the earth

How the sun lights the earth:

a performance reflecting on astronomical and personal distances, time and memory.

“In this part of the world, at the end of each day, the solar system gives us the setting of the sun. Somewhere out to the west, not necessarily visible but perhaps in some way always present in our imagination, the nearest giant star sinks below the horizon.”

A list of determinations / possible principles :
If art is not simply communication but rather, resistance then what might this mean?
The residency / retreat as the art itself.
Time as a material to work with.
Evolve a daily practice - as if a set of determinations, disciplines, structures.
To practice without expectation of result.
Foreground impermanence and uncertainty.
Nothing taken as being for sure.
Focus awareness on the apparent reliability of the frame of sunrise and sunset as the clock, measure, marker.
The turn of the Earth as a slow metronome.
To immerse with as little regard as possible for what has gone before or what may come after.
To work with almost nothing - to generate from as little as possible.
To contemplate homelessness as a condition - connected to transience and movement and simplicity.
To reflect on solitude and/within community; the individual within the group.
The influences, effects and affects; porous, osmosis, temporary exchanges.
Re-set intentions daily and continually.
