Open to artists and other practitioners who are looking at a transition in their practice, perhaps thinking about pausing or are simply working very slowly. Also for those with a current interest in age and ageing. No particular training or background is necessary!

The main emphasis will be to work with Feldenkrais Method using a series of Awareness Through Movement lessons each day, developing the connections to how we sense ourselves. With a focus on dynamic stability in movement, using the ground as support in action. This will include working in a way that encourages each individual to move at their own pace, sometimes quite small and gentle, with an emphasis on listening to your own process in somatics and learning to utilise rest as part of your practice.

LIMITED CAPACITY. BOOKING REQUIRED.
Please send a short paragraph about yourself and why you wish to participate at this time and also which workshop dates you wish to attend.
Participants can apply to book to attend one or both weekends.
We will confirm your place for the first workshop by 25th September.
These workshops aim to be inclusive to disabled and non-disabled participants.
Please do get in contact about any thoughts on ACCESS requirements for the workshop.

Contribution per workshop ONLY:
£45 Standard
£25 Low Income / Independent

NOTE: We are only able to offer these very low costs due to Arts Council Support.

The workshop aims to offer an accessible opportunity to take some time and space to explore easier movement and somatic awareness. No particular training is necessary, just an interest in discovering through your own experience.
Bring a mat and/or blanket for floor work and warmth.
[There are regular trains, two stops from Newcastle Central to Wylam. The village is West along the River Tyne, a short walk across the bridge and up the hill. On street parking available.]

Fiona Wright has a workshop approach that is influenced by many somatic practices and experiential anatomy, especially Awareness Through Movement (Feldenkrais Method) in which she is now an accredited practitioner and teacher.
